The first person I met upon arrival on Wednesday the 22nd was our President at WISTA Spain, Rosana Velasco. It was impossible to start in a better way.

During the welcome cocktail held in the Saló de Cent at Barcelona City Council (an impressive venue), I had the pleasure of meeting in person Dafne Anghelidis, a member of the ExCo. I worked with her for four years on the WISTA International #TradeCommittee, which I cofounded and was the representative of Europe. I missed Paula Pastén, who worked hard for the creation and success of this Committee, and Yamila Denise Rivero, collegues of the Board of Directors. Everything continues. Therefore, I was delighted to also meet Nazli Selek, the current ExCo member, and Aysegul Gorur who, along with Zama Hlongwane, have taken up our mantle.

Thursday the 23rd was "the big day" for me. I was the moderator of "Panel 3, International Trade Challenges", at WTC. It was the one I'd spent months coordinating and preparing. It wasn't easy, but it was very rewarding. It was a dynamic discussion on how our industry is adapting to geopolitical tensions, new trade barriers, and the digital transformation of supply chains. A huge thank you to our speakers: Jordi Espin, Secretary General, Spanish SHIPPERS' Council (SSC) - Transprime; Irene Guardiola, Guardiola Lawyers International Trade & Customs; Sakura Kuma, Executive Officer, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd., and Managing Director, MOL Southeast Asia and Oceania; and Rachel Noronha, Head of Policy, International Chamber of Shipping. Also to our global president Elpi Petraki for her tireless work on behalf of the association. We ended the day with a lot of fun at the gala dinner at the Maritime Museum.

On Friday the 24th I attended "Workshop 5: Commodity Trade in a Volatile World: Managing Price Risk and Trade Flows", an expert session addressing global commodity markets, price volatility, and how to manage risks in international trade flows. Congratulations to the moderator and speakers Aysegul Domanic, Anisa Govender, Elena Piga, Marina Christoulaki, and Sara Parmo. I was there with other members of the current Trade Committee Board, who have not only maintained our work but improved upon it. Proud of you!

Special thanks to our colleagues at #WISTASpain, our Board of Directors, and especially our President, Rosana Velasco, for making this annual meeting the most successful in WISTA's history. Thank you also for your continued support of those of us who are and represent the "T" of Trade. A huge hug!

It was a pleasure, an honor, and a responsibility to be the moderator of the third and final panel, "International Trade Challenges", at the WISTA International AGM & Conference 2025 last week in Barcelona. It was a unique and incredible experience shared with my high-level panelists: Rachel Noronha (Head of Shipping Policy, International Chamber of Shipping), Sakura Kuma (Executive Officer at MOL and Managing Director at MOL Asia Oceania), Irene Guardiola (Guardiola Lawyers, International Trade & Customs) and Jordi Espin (Secretary General, TRANSPRIME Spanish Shippers' Council Strategic Relations Manager, European Shippers' Council (ESC) Member of the Global Shippers' Alliance (GSA).

We addressed trending topics in international trade such as:
+ Escalation of Trade Wars and Protectionism.
+ Geopolitical Conflicts Disrupting Trade.
+ Deglobalization Trends.
+ Tariff and Non-Tariff Barriers.
+ Sluggish Economic Growth.
+ Supply Chain Disruptions.
+ Digital Transformation in International Trade.

Among the audience were Elpi Petraki, President at WISTA International , and Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General at International Maritime Organization, and 450 professional women from 67 countries, united to advance women in shipping, maritime and trade. Because "together we are stronger".

A special thank you to WISTA Spain, the organizing association that has achieved record numbers, to the Board of Directors and especially to the President, Rosana Velasco, for counting on me and trusting me once again. A big hug!
